一般情況下使用鍍鋅鐵管，有腐蝕性及特別潮濕的場所使用不銹鋼管。當周圍環(huán)境空氣濕度較大時，風(fēng)道外壁需做防腐蝕、防銹處理。對輸送高溫、高濕氣體的風(fēng)道內(nèi)壁宜噴刷磷化底漆或其他耐蝕涂料。在風(fēng)道輸送高溫氣體或低溫空氣時，風(fēng)道外壁應(yīng)做保溫(保冷)處理下。

輸送高溫氣體風(fēng)管的保溫目的，一是防止管道內(nèi)空氣的熱損失(出現(xiàn)在冬季集中空調(diào)系統(tǒng));另外是防止在輸送廢熱蒸汽或高溫氣體時阻止熱量散發(fā)到房間內(nèi)而使室溫升高，又可防止人接觸風(fēng)道而被燙傷。而在夏季往往因輸送氣體的溫度低于周圍環(huán)境的空氣露點溫度時，管道外壁會產(chǎn)生結(jié)露現(xiàn)象。這對集中空調(diào)系統(tǒng)的風(fēng)道會加大冷量損失，同時凝結(jié)水滴會污染吊頂和墻地面，因此也應(yīng)該進行保冷隔熱處理。
